“BRAVE, STRONG & SUPER SUPER CUTE” and she was for a short 19 months. Diagnosed 8/15/2022 & gained her wings 3/22/2024. She endured the unfathomable.
“BRAVE, STRONG & SUPER SUPER CUTE” our mantra every time she had a radiation treatment, an infusion, a needle poke, even the worst tasting Chemo drug she had to take orally, and after she was done she proved she was exactly that.
“BRAVE, STRONG & SUPER SUPER CUTE” Our mission is to keep her spirit going & to not be forgotten. We want her legacy to be one that helps find a Cure for this monster.
We wanted to find a way to do more. Her brain was donated to research and scientists were able to produce a cell line from her cancer tissues. This means that even though her physical body is not with us, she is STILL fighting cancer.
That’s why we are excited to join The Cure Starts Now, a charity dedicated to funding research for a Homerun Cure™, by helping doctors & researchers with the resources needed to find a cure for the most aggressive forms of pediatric brain cancer, like DIPG.
We refuse to accept that there are no options. Every child deserves hope, and every family deserves the chance to fight with more than just time or the lack of it. Becoming a chapter of The Cure Starts Now is our way of turning Maylins’ Fighting Spirt into action for all children, and for finding a cure.
"The word Thankful doesn't even begin to describe how much we truly appreciate our supporters that donate to The Cure Starts Now because to our family, donations mean hope. Hope for vital research to be funded. Vital research that can help many other children. Knowing we can help save other families who receive this terrible diagnosis makes us fight this nasty disease even harder!!" -Maylin's Family
The Cure Starts Now (501c3 Federal Non-Profit) is one of the only cancer foundations dedicated to a “homerun” cure for all cancers, starting first with one of the most deadly and difficult cancers: pediatric brain cancer. Many experts believe that the lessons we learn from fighting pediatric cancer may in fact provide us the critical first step in winning the battle against all forms of cancer, both pediatric and adult.
