Adeline was diagnosed with brain cancer (grade III anaplastic astrocytoma) the day after her 3rd birthday. She is now 6 years old and continues to be in treatment at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Adeline has an ultra rare (1 in a million) genetic condition called CMMRD which predisposes her to many cancers starting in childhood. Because of this, Adeline not only receives treatment for brain cancer but is also subject to frequent screenings, like blood draws, ultrasounds, and colonoscopies for the other cancers of which she is at high risk. Adeline was also diagnosed with an optic pathway glioma in October 2021 and had a second HGG tumor resected in January 2022. Her brain MRIs have been relatively stable for 3 years but her most recent scan showed some growth in a new area of the brain and we are not sure yet of the path forward. Additionally, Adeline's dad Edward was also diagnosed with brain cancer (glioblastoma) in October 2023 and subsequently passed away in December 2024. Adeline, her 2-year-old sister Scarlett, and mom Christine have all been deep in their grief over the loss of Ed while still trying to march forward and stay hopeful for Adeline as she continues her fight.
