Victor was a silly, bright, charming, curious boy who always had 100 questions for everything and everyone. Growing like a weed, he loved bikes, trains, cars, trucks, and airplanes, and he wanted to be a pilot when he grew up. 

In June of 2013, Victor’s family found out that he had a tumor in his brain stem called DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma). No cause for this form of cancer, which typically develops in young children Victor's age, has been identified. The treatment regimen has not changed or improved in over 30 years.

Over a period of 11 months, Victor gradually lost the ability to swallow, walk, talk, eat, move, and eventually, breathe. The disease took away his dreams, hopes, and smiles, and it took his life on May 14th 2014, two months after his 7th birthday. His family watched him endure this horror and was powerless to help him or stop it.

DIPG destroys 300 families per year, just in the USA.
Victor’s older sibling and parents live in Ravenna, Seattle, where he was born and raised.
