In loving memory of Ezekiel Hernandez (11/11/2006 - 11/19/2018), The Cure Starts Now was the first foundation to reach out to me when Ezekiel was diagnosed, and for that, I am forever thankful. Ezekiel had a profound desire to travel to countries with fewer resources to teach the transformative power of reading. He often said, “By reading, you can live many lives no matter your circumstances.” Diagnosed with DIPG at the age of 11, Ezekiel transitioned from excelling on the baseball field as second base/shortstop to facing the inability to play or read, although reading remained his passion. Despite his challenges, Ezekiel never questioned why this was happening to him. He consistently wore a smile, always more concerned about others than himself. Green was his favorite color, and he adored his little sister Jazmin with all his heart. Additionally, he had a deep love for Star Wars. Ezekiel had a remarkable gift for making people feel loved and seen. I miss my sweet Ezekiel with all my strength. To honor him, we established the nonprofit organization, www.Read4Eze.org
