Courtney was a beautiful young woman with a big heart and dreams of a future helping children. She was warm, funny, talented, an artist and full of love for everyone she knew. Courtney had so many hopes and dreams, she was positive, energetic and radiant.
On 9/29/20, Courtney was diagnosed with DIPG (diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma). She fought hard every single day and on 5/2/21, Courtney gained her wings and went to heaven, just short of her 19th birthday and only 7 months after diagnosis. We need a cure for DIPG. Despite what you read, it is not rare!
We need a cure! We need a cure now! Unfortunately, pediatric cancer research funding by the government is very sparse and it is left to families to help fund reasearch so that someday, hopefully someday soon, we will not have to say goodbye to our children. No family should have to watch their child suffer, no family should watch their child in pain, no family should have to plan for a funeral. We can work towards changing this together! Let's not keep waiting until it happens to us, or someone we know and love, let's do something now!
This fundraiser is in memory of Courtney, in memory of her and in tribute to all of the DIPG warriors and angels. They deserve a cure, they deserve hope, they deserve life, and we deserve to watch our children grow up, get married, have a family and be all that they can be. Don't you agree? We know you do!
