The best way to describe William, and the most frequent compliment he/we get, is that he has the kindest heart. Last year, he received a "bobcat award" at school that said "William has a huge heart and consistently shows kindness to all of his classmates. He collaborates well with others and makes a genuine effort to ensure everyone feels included." His teachers call him a very curious learner. He loves writing and art. His art was chosen to be displayed at the Denver art museum when he was in kindergarten for the citywide elementary art show.
He also loves all sports especially watching football with his dad and playing baseball with his team, the Brewers. Prior to DIPG he loved to bike, swim, rollerblade, golf and play any and all sports and games with his friends.
He is the most wonderful big brother to his two little sisters. He loves them, supports them, and is an incredible example of leadership, kindness, strength and resilience. When he is away for treatment he told his sisters "you don't need to miss me because I am always in your heart."
William just completed a second round of radiation and is hoping to restart his CAR-T trial after his MRI in September. It hasn't been an easy road, but his positivity, strength, resilience and perseverance is an honor to witness. He is still smiling, playing pranks on his healthcare team (and mom!) and he recently went back to school!
We are so proud of our brave boy.
