Our daughter Luna has such a vibrant personality. As the oldest sister, she has always had a nurturing, mothering instinct and takes pride in helping care for and love her younger siblings. She is strong in her faith and deeply loves Jesus. When asked what she would do if she could do anything in the world, she said she would spread the Gospel and help bring people to know Him.

Luna is also a true animal enthusiast. It feels like she came out of the womb loving snakes, bats, and all kinds of creatures. The animals she’s most drawn to are often the ones others might find undesirable—or don’t even know exist—but she adores them all the same. That love reflects her heart so well: gentle, curious, and full of compassion for everything God created.

She loves playing the piano and has recently learned how to sew using a sewing machine. Luna is happiest when she’s meeting the needs of others. She is incredibly selfless, always more concerned with bringing a smile to someone else’s face than anything else. She is wonderfully silly, yet wise beyond her years.

Since her diagnosis in March, Luna has lost much of the mobility on her left side. Even so, every chance she gets, she pushes herself to try to stand on her own. That determination has revealed a fighter in her we didn’t even know existed. I always knew she was strong, but I didn’t realize just how strong she truly is.

At this time, Luna does not know her diagnosis, but she does understand that something is wrong. She knows we are doing everything we can to help her heal, and like the rest of our family, she is holding onto hope and trusting that God will restore her.
