Our story began like any other—Liam was a happy, healthy kid, full of energy and life. But last May 2024, everything changed. He started throwing up every day, and it went on for three agonizing weeks. We went to five different doctors, desperately searching for answers, but none could tell us what was wrong. Finally, we decided to take him to Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), and that’s where we received the heartbreaking diagnosis of Medulloblastoma brain cancer. Our world has been turned upside down ever since. The mental and emotional toll on our family has been overwhelming. Every day is a battle filled with anxiety, fear, and uncertainty about the future. The constant worry about his health and the potential outcomes consumes our thoughts, making it difficult to focus on anything else. The emotional strain has created an atmosphere of constant tension and sadness within our home. We are struggling to cope with the reality of watching our child endure so much pain and hardship. Physically, the stress has begun to take its toll on all of us. Sleepless nights and long days spent in the hospital have left us exhausted and worn out. The physical demands of caring for a sick child are immense, leaving little time or energy for self-care. We’ve had to juggle multiple responsibilities, from managing his medical appointments to maintaining some semblance of normalcy for our other child. The exhaustion has made it challenging to keep up with day-to-day tasks, further contributing to the strain on our family. Financially, the impact has been crippling. The cost of medical care, combined with the need for specialized treatment, has drained our resources. My ability to work has been severely impacted as I need to be with my son during his treatments, and this has resulted in a significant loss of income. We are struggling to keep up with our rent, car payments, and other essential bills. The financial burden has only added to our stress, making it difficult to focus on what truly matters—supporting our son through this incredibly difficult time. He has been through many treatments. He first did very intensive chemotherapy that lasted 10 months. The treatment did not work and the cancer spread a little. He did another chemotherapy treatment that needed an Ommaya reservoir and he was giving medication through the top of his head on a daily basis for a month. That treatment didn’t help either. The lasted treatment was 6 weeks of targeted radiation treatment. We are currently waiting for the results of the treatment. Our family is doing everything we can to remain strong, but we are in desperate need of financial assistance to help alleviate some of the burdens we are facing. Any support we receive will go directly towards ensuring that our son has the care he needs and that our family can maintain stability during this challenging period.
