The Cure Starts Now's Tribute Funds

Maggie Hesser's Tribute Fundraiser

Meet Maggie

Just before turning 13, Maggie was diagnosed with Optic Nerve Glioma, a rare brain tumor that has left her blind in one eye. Since January, she’s traveled weekly for chemotherapy at CHOP (Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia)—a 4+ hour round trip.

Despite her diagnosis, Maggie remains unstoppable. She loves softball, playing for both travel and rec teams, managing the Lower Dauphin High School team, and cheering on her favorite—Texas Longhorns Softball. Hook ’Em!

She recently stepped up as goalie for her middle school field hockey team, after serving as team manager.

In school, Maggie is a distinguished honor roll student, was yearbook editor, and is a student ambassador. She’s also a proud Philly sports fan (Go Phils, Go Birds), loves hunting and fishing, and is a devoted big sister to 3 year old sister Jessie.

Maggie dreams of studying sports management in college and becoming the first female manager of the Phillies.
