Nora's name means "light' and that is what she is. Her whole life she brightened our lives and now she will forever be a beacon of hope for others. We are so proud of her. She fought bravely for almost 18 months. She shined hope, faith and light the entire time. Her cancer journey began at 12 years old. Persistent headaches led to one scary night that landed us in the hospital. After an emergency brain surgery, we got the news no parent should have to hear. Brain cancer, inoperable, 6-month life span, no plan of attack. We couldn't accept that. This is why trials are so important to us and for finding a cure. We signed her up and we got 17 more months with our girl and she got a better quality of life.
Then her time came to go to her Heavenly home. She fought hard, never complained and never lost hope.
We now fight in her honor. We fight for other children. We fight for hope.
The Cure Starts Now (501c3 Federal Non-Profit) is one of the only cancer foundations dedicated to a “homerun” cure for all cancers, starting first with one of the most deadly and difficult cancers: pediatric brain cancer. Many experts believe that the lessons we learn from fighting pediatric cancer may in fact provide us the critical first step in winning the battle against all forms of cancer, both pediatric and adult.
