Carson was an incredible young man. He was always a kind and caring soul. He ended 2023 with a snowboarding accident that changed his life. He had recently graduated from high school, where he was on the wrestling team and played the baritone saxophone in the marching band, jazz band and wind ensemble. He loved high school and had so many great experiences. He was loving his full time job as a welder. He was right on the brink of so many adventures. However, this new adventure wasn't what any of us saw in his future.
He took his DIPG brain tumor diagnosis by the horns and decided to make the best of his situation. He was patient and mature beyond his 20 years. He was involved and always asked if he can think about it before making any big decisions. He was grateful and never let a moment go by without telling those that cared for him how much he appreciated and loved them. He said that there was no sense in being angry, because it wasn't going to do him any good or change his circumstances. He took his diligence and determination in being physically fit and healthy before his diagnosis and worked hard at the gym and physical therapy every week. While he had many physical limitations now, he was emotionally and physically strong.
His diagnosis brought out his quirky dry sense of humor for more people to experience. He often made jokes about life and savored those moments that felt "normal". He was awesome at seeing the humor in things. He was always looking for ways he could help or bless other people. His inner strength and faith were awe inspiring and he radiated that to everyone he was around. Carson always loved his family and friends fiercely! He was loyal and loving and he kept sharing that with those in his little part of the world.
"I look forward to a day where no parent hears those dreaded words, “Your child has DIPG, a terminal brain tumor”. Carson fought like a warrior and we intend to keep fighting in his honor. Every donation to help find a cure to this terrible disease means Carson’s battle wasn’t in vain." - Nicole Mills
