At age 3, she was diagnosed, and had two 14+ hour long brain surgeries (just 6 days apart!), completed multiple rounds of intensive chemotherapy and received a bone marrow transplant. The bone marrow transplant sent her into multi-organ system failure, which almost always results in death. She was continuously hospitalized from September 2018 - January 2019, with over 50 days in ICU. Thankfully, she pulled through, went into remission, and was able to come HOME! She’s still a high-risk kid, though, and the chances of recurrence are always there. This means she sees multiple specialists for follow up with many challenges, and has a full brain and a full spine MRIs regularly, and each scan sparks fear, but so far, each result has brought joy, as she continues to be in remission with NED (No Evidence of Disease) 5 years later.
