Aiden’s journey began at just six years old.  He is a happy, energetic soon-to-be third grader who was diagnosed in September 2022 with grade 3 Choroid Plexus Carcinoma, a rare and aggressive type of brain cancer.  In addition to this horrible disease, Aiden also has a germ line mutation of his TP53 tumor suppressor gene resulting in Li-Fraumeni Syndrome or “LFS”.

Within 8 months of diagnosis, Aiden endured four major brain surgeries, two ventricular shunt surgeries, six sessions of inpatient chemotherapy, a stem cell harvest, two stem cell transplants, a stroke, and an emergency appendectomy. His care required months long admissions to ICU units at three different hospitals across New York State.

In May 2023, Aiden became the first and only patient enrolled in a groundbreaking clinical trial at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City where he was the first person in the world to undergo experimental treatment using intra-arterial chemotherapy in hopes of reducing the blood supply to the tumor.

344 days after 15 major surgeries and procedures, 132 bags of chemotherapy, months of immunotherapy infusions and injections, numerous blood and platelet transfusions, hundred of finger pokes, scans, and countless days in the hospital, Aiden was declared in remission with no evidence of disease.

Aiden is a true warrior in every aspect of the word!  We hope Aiden’s successful fight can and will help pave the way for others!
