Courage for Carter is in honor of Carter King. Carter was an incredible boy who passed away at the age of six from DIPG. Carter was very intelligent and could light up a room the second he walked in. He constantly wanted to learn subjects like science and biology, loved aviation, building Legos, had a passion for drawing, and watching Star Wars for the walkers.
Carter loved telling jokes to people and making them smile. If he saw someone who seemed down, he somehow knew exactly what they needed to cheer up. Carter also had his dream pet, which is a tarantula, because he said scary things need love too. He truly had a huge and compassionate heart for everything and wanted the best for everyone.
"It is important for Courage for Carter to become a chapter because we lost one of the best people we’ve known to exist even if he was only six. No family should ever have to go through something this horrific and Carter would have wanted us to honor his legacy to help find a cure." -The King Family
The Cure Starts Now (501c3 Federal Non-Profit) is one of the only cancer foundations dedicated to a “homerun” cure for all cancers, starting first with one of the most deadly and difficult cancers: pediatric brain cancer. Many experts believe that the lessons we learn from fighting pediatric cancer may in fact provide us the critical first step in winning the battle against all forms of cancer, both pediatric and adult.
