Our sweet Amelia has always been the happiest baby. She is extremely smart, funny, silly, and a joy to be around. A few days before Christmas, our 2 year old became very sick. She threw up and was extremely lethargic. She could barely stay awake for an hour to eat before needing to nap and she would wake up hysterical. We took her to the pediatrician and she was positive for Flu B. We waited 10 long days for the symptoms to subside, but they never did. One morning, we decided enough was enough. We took her to the ER, where the doctors confirmed she had the flu and tried to send us home. I knew in my heart something was wrong, and after advocating for testing, the true nightmare began.

Amelia was diagnosed with Choroid Plexus Carcinoma, a very rare cancer of the ventricles. We are following the same intense treatment protocol as ATRT. Amelia had four surgeries to her brain and head, completed 6 rounds of intense chemotherapy with 3 stem cell transplants. Amelia is currently completing 30 days of daily radiation. Even going through the unimaginable, Amelia has stayed as energetic as ever. Even during chemo, she has not skipped a beat. She loves playing, dancing, and singing. Although she has experienced a lot of medical trauma, we are all working hard to ensure that she knows she is safe and loved.
