Kiran is the sweetest, most gentle soul! He loves all things technology and games, is a dedicated Boy Scout, and an amazing and patient big brother.
Kiran was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma on February 28th, 2023, just a month before his 12th birthday. Leading up to his diagnoses, Kiran had weird bouts of nausea and vomiting that we (and his pediatrician) couldn't explain. One day, his balance started to seem off, and that's when we went in for an MRI. His tumor was big and had caused so much pressure to build up in his brain. We were so shocked. Kiran had always been SO healthy.
Kiran underwent brain surgery just two days later, followed by radiation and chemotherapy. He has dealt with moderate Posterior Fossa Syndrome caused by surgery but is working so hard to regain his strength and coordination.
Kiran had thankfully had clear scans since finishing treatment 9 months ago. He is so excited to start high school this fall, and we are all finding joy in the "normal" parts of life for now.
"The Cure Starts Now serves so many vital roles for families of children with brain cancer. For our family, the community support we received from TCSN has been so important to helping us navigate the world of a medulloblastoma diagnosis. We have been fortunate to be able to connect with other families who are going through a similar experience. Additionally, we are so thankful for the fundraising efforts of this organization that contributes so much to cancer research, giving hope to families that a cure will be found."- Lauren, Kiran's mom.
