This journey felt like it began overnight. We went from taking family pictures to, shortly after within 3 months time, watching Destiney's symptoms start to surface. Between multiple ER visits and trusting my mommy gut, I knew something was not right. Once she was formally diagnosed, December 30, 2022, we were flown to St. Jude, and her struggles worsened. I do not wish that on any parent. Once finding out that there was disease progression, we were able to come home. Destiney won her battle December 21, 2023. No more pain, suffering, or hurt. During the time of her illness, Destiney bridged together an entire community, via the neighborhood, her church, her school, and her medical team here in Shreveport and in Memphis. She left an impact that will last a lifetime.
