What started as an effort to help his eyes when they seemed a bit "crossed" led to discovering a DIPG tumor in his brain stem. The Kautz family fought for 15 months, living in the present and fighting for every good day, and more of them. We can come together and find the cure to stop DIPG, but it won't happen alone.

During their fight, they spoke of their reason for becoming an Ambassador family:

"There has been such strength and resilience shown by warriors and their families in The Cure Starts Now community. Thanks to these families, who in honoring their loved ones have worked to fund the research towards the Homerun Cure. We know that Ryland has clinical trials and opportunities other kids have not had. We are all in on the war against DIPG and fighting for our son to have good days and more of them." - The Kautz Family
