Braeden was an avid athlete playing traveling soccer, lacrosse, and his favorite sport golf. On the eve of his last day of elementary school, 5th grade, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He was immediately admitted to the PICU, and he had his first surgery within a few days to try and remove the tumor. This was not successful in removing the tumor, and Braeden suffered complications. He woke up from surgery with his entire right side paralyzed. Braeden then stayed 30 days inpatient in the hospital and at rehab. Through hard work, determination, and many hours of OT and PT, Braeden learned how to walk again - but he is still fighting to regain strength on his right side. Braeden went through chemo for four months - enduring countless blood tests and platelet transfusions. Six months after his first surgery, Braeden endured his second surgery which was successful in removing “Rufus” his large tumor! Braeden continues to be monitored closely - and is still working very hard through countless hours in OT and PT to fight the complications he suffered during the first brain surgery. It has been a rough year, but Braeden continues to inspire us daily!
