Avery's Little Army for The Cure Starts Now
Just over 15 months ago we began Avery’s brain cancer journey. Avery’s journey has seen four brain surgeries (one the day after last year’s walk), 6 weeks of radiation and 10 months on a clinical trial drugs aimed at stopping her tumor from regrowing.
Since that night, in the early hours on December 19th the outpouring of support from friends, families and community has been an inspiration. Over the 15 months we’ve experienced fear, stress, high anxiety levels …. but at the same these months have been an absolute gift. Seeing Avery recover from surgery to play soccer again, meeting the USWNT through Make A Wish, watching her in her first ski meet, birthday parties, school field trips, sleep over, vacations, even our monthly car rides down to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia full of family bonding time.
Unfortunately, this disease is a monster and most families we’ve met on this journey have not been as lucky as we have. We’ve seen too many families start out hopeful only to watch kids suffer and lose their battles. We’ve read the words “my baby is now at rest, free of disease in heaven” far too many times on social media.
We need a cure for this awful disease. Every social media post we make raises awareness and every dollar we raise for research gets us a little bit closer. So today we’re once again asking for support by walking with us on May 6th, sharing our posts and donating to help fund much needed research.
