The Cure Starts Now's Tribute Funds

Camila Chacon's Tribute Page

Camila was a feisty, lovable, and confident 4-year-old who was diagnosed with an inoperable and fast-growing form of brain cancer known as DIPG at 17-months-old. Prior to diagnosis, Camila was a healthy toddler. She loved playing with her brother, Liam, and twin sister, Lucia. She enjoyed running around outside, putting on makeup, going on grand adventures, coloring, and watching movies. Camila was extremely charismatic; she loved asking everyone she met what their name is, and then after they respond, she always said, "That's a beautiful name!" Her outgoing personality and funny sense of humor brought such great joy to her loved ones.

Camila’s parents noticed seizure-like activity prompting a seizure workup. Following an MRI, Camila was diagnosed with DIPG. It was heartbreaking. Her parents did not want to affect her quality of life and decided not to move forward with any treatment options. At the time of diagnosis, Camila was given just months to live, but every month that went by was a month that she had persevered. Camila went almost two and a half years symptom-free without any treatment. Throughout her illness, Camila continued to teach her family how to love, support others, and live in the moment. She was a bright shining star in the sea of despair that is DIPG.
