"Words cannot express the feeling of gratitude it brings when a donation is given in Maggie’s name. Nothing can bring her back however it is of the utmost urgency we advance our research and find a cure for DIPG as soon as possible. Thank you all immensely!" - The Maggie Cobb Family
Maggie was an intelligent 10-year-old with a fierce appetite for learning. She was incredibly inquisitive and enjoyed reading more than anything. She participated in Girl Scouts and was an honor student. She excelled in athletics as a gifted soccer player and a blackbelt in Taekwondo. She was a kind and gentle soul, who loved animals and her family. She wanted to so many things in this life and unfortunately she missed her chance.
When Maggie was 9-years-old, she began experiencing headaches and sinus issues that were attributed to allergies. Several months later, she started suffering from balance issues that were affecting her Taekwondo abilities. After Maggie admitted that she sometimes experiences double vision, she was taken to an optometrist and prescribed glasses. Unfortunately, the glasses didn’t resolve her vision problem, so Maggie’s pediatrician ordered an MRI which revealed that Maggie had an inoperable and fast-growing brain tumor known as DIPG.
Maggie fought valiantly for one year before she passed away on June 24, 2010 at the age of 10.
DIPG stole any chance Maggie had of fulfilling all of her hopes and dreams when it took her life and continues to do the same to other children every day. Funding for pediatric brain cancer research is the only way to find the cure to eradicate this horrific disease and give these children a chance to see their dreams become a reality.
