Kyleigh Wright was a fun-loving, quick-witted, Taylor Swift loving 14-year-old. She was fearless, outspoken, funny and sassy. Kyleigh was musically inclined – always singing and listening to music, or learning the guitar. She was extremely girly, and loved looking fashionable and wearing make-up.
At the age of 13, Kyleigh began experiencing migraines and nausea, along with aphasia. Her symptoms continued for three months before she had a seizure on Thanksgiving Day and had to be rushed to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, where a CT scan was performed. From the scan, it was apparent that Kyleigh had a tumor, but because of the tumor’s location, the doctors thought it might be M.S. It took 16 days to get the results of a biospy to confirm that it was in fact a brain tumor, Glioblastoma Multiforme, in her frontal lobe.
Kyleigh battled courageously for 8 months before she gained her angel wings on July 12, 2015. Kyleigh fought to stay until her last breath. Kyleigh is remembered for her spunk, laughter and gypsy soul. She is now wild and free.
Kyleigh’s family stands behind funding cancer research because our children deserve better treatment options without all of the negative side effects that steal so much from them.
1 in 330 children in the U.S. will develop cancer by age 20.
On the average, 15,500 children are diagnosed with cancer each year.
Cancer is the #1 killer of children by disease in the United States, yet it remains one of the most underfunded diseases in the world.
