Olivia was a beautiful, eccentric, and silly 7-year-old that battled a highly aggressive and fast-growing form of brain cancer known as DIPG. She was always smiling and laughing. She brought smiles to everyone's face that she met, and she shone bright like the sun. She loved Power Rangers, dinosaurs, playing with Barbies and her favorite movie was “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” She enjoyed drawing pictures and was full of creativity and imagination.
Olivia's favorite holiday was Halloween. She loved Jack Skellington and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Her favorite ride at Disney World was the Haunted Mansion. She liked to pretend she was a dancing skeleton. Most of all she was the silliest little girl we've ever met and we love everything about her.
Before Olivia was diagnosed, her parents noticed that her eye began crossing, along with changes in her depth perception and balance, and she began complaining of headaches. Her diagnosis was quite a whirlwind that included an immediate shunt placement and jumping right into treatment.
For Olivia’s parents, what stands out more than anything when it comes to discussing Olivia's tumor and cancer with her is that she always remained happy, smiling, and laughing. While she had said she wished that she didn't have a tumor, she chose to go into each day with joy and grew to love her doctors and the hospitals.
Olivia was one of a kind. Her strength, resilience, and grace through her journey was so inspiring.
"Please consider donating to help find a cure for DIPG. We miss our beautiful girl everyday and do not want other families to have to go through the loss of their children to such a horrible disease. More funding means more research and a cure." - The Routte Family
